Micah Edwards
Micah Edwards is Mr. Texas Soul
Micha Edwards blends butter and twang, sultry and steel into a sound as expansive as Texas itself with his fusion of classic country, vintage R&B, rockabilly, and Tejano influences. Micah used a Recording Fund grant to supplement his recording process, providing a budget for the mixing stage of three of his songs. This is an example of the unique ways our grants can be used.
Raised between worlds—half Black, half white, a California transplant in Houston—Edwards embraces the contrasts in his identity, weaving them into his music. His ability to balance nostalgia with innovation has earned him over a million monthly Spotify listeners, recognition as a Tiny Desk Contest Top Shelf artist, and performances alongside Johnnyswim, Saint Motel, Mac Ayres, and Kam Franklin of The Suffers. Now, he’s preparing to release "Texas Soul", a sophomore album that serves as a love letter to the small towns, neon-lit dance halls, and hidden gems that make up his home state. It’s not just an album; it’s a statement of belonging, proof that music can bridge cultures, histories, and generations.
