Made In Montana

A Montana specific grant program celebrating big sounds from small towns all across the Big Sky.

The Made In Montana grant is a 2026 pilot program designed to support and uplift local music in our home state. We hope to make this a yearly grant opportunity for artists and musicians across Montana.

Applications will be reviewed in accordance with our values of Drive, Determination, and Diversity. Grants are applied directly to the recording process, i.e., producer, engineer, or studio fees, mixing, mastering, or studio musicians.

Grant Details

Recording Fund grants are designed to help artists record their music while creating jobs for recording professionals. While we strive to make our grants accessible and flexible, there are some core criteria.


The Made In Montana grant is $1250. Grant funds are payable only to invoices for recording services and/or recording costs. This means that Recording Fund pays for one or multiple of the following:


  • Studio Time

  • Producers

  • Engineers

  • Studio Musicians

  • Mixing

  • Mastering


The grant can be spread across recording expenses for multiple songs, but the use of budgets will require approval to ensure maximum benefit for artists and recording professionals.

Who's eligiable for the Made In Montana grant?

The Made In Montana grant is for music makers who are Montana residents and 18 years of age or older only. While we accept applications from artists at any stage of their journey, our mission is to support artists who have demonstrated drive and determination.

Can you buy gear with the grant?

No. The grant is designed to cover the costs of the recording process. Refer back to the first question. We understand that home recording is a valuable asset to the modern musician, and we hope that this grant can support this process by providing funding for services that might not be possible in your home studio or with your skill set, such as mixing, mastering, and full-band live recording.

Grante Schedule

Submissions Open

January 1st, 2026


The submission period will be open throughout January. Applications must be submitted via the application portal by 11:59 PM MST on January 31st, MST. The application will be closed after this time.


The application portal link button will be available on this page at 8 AM MST, January 1st, 2026.

Selection Period

Febraury 1-28th, 2026


A selection committee will review applications throughout February.

Award notifcation

March 2026


Selected applicants will be notified by mid-March—exact date TBA. Awardees will have access to grant funds upon notification.

Grante Use Period

March to June 2026


From the time of notification of the award and the signing of the grant agreement, grantees will have 3 months to use their grant funding.


Our hope is for this period to be mid-March to mid-June.

Grant Event

June 2026


We'll be holding an event to celebrate the awardees and Montana's rich musical landscape. Exact date TBA.


This event will ideally be held once all the grants are completed, so we can share the final tracks and have the grantees perform.
