Recording Fund is expanding its Montana-specific recording grant program, Made in Montana, into two application cycles in 2026, creating more access for musicians working across different timelines, genres, and geographies.
Originally launched as a single application window, the program will now offer Spring and Summer grant cycles, recognizing that recording projects require planning, collaboration, and resources—and that not every artist is ready at the same moment.
“Recording a song isn’t just about inspiration—it’s about timing, coordination, and access,” said Max Allyn, Founder of Recording Fund. “By creating two Made in Montana grant cycles, we’re making room for more artists to participate when it actually works for them, while continuing to support the recording professionals who make this work possible.”
As part of this expansion, the Spring cycle application deadline has been extended to February 15, 2026, with grant awards announced by March 15. A Summer cycle will follow, with applications due May 15, 2026. Applications not selected in the Spring round may be reconsidered alongside new submissions received during the Summer cycle.
The Made in Montana Grant supports the recording of original music while also creating paid work for Montana-based studios, engineers, producers, and session musicians. Funds are applied directly toward professional recording services, keeping resources circulating within the state’s music economy.
By expanding the program into two cycles, Recording Fund aims to reduce barriers related to timing and readiness, increase access for artists in both rural and urban communities, and build sustained momentum for Montana’s independent music scene.
Applications for the Spring cycle are currently open. Montana-based artists at all stages of their careers are encouraged to apply or share the opportunity within their networks.
